Kurukshetra,- “The progress of electricity generation is slow but sure in Haryana which promise sustainable future of the peoples with their cooperation, patience and responsibility as consumers who should feel concerned for payment of electricity bills and complete no to power theft. The growth rate of capacity of thermal power plants required to be speeded up. We need to do serious introspection on the sustainability issues for power sector in Haryana. We are expected to think of the life style which is needed, affordable and cost effective. ” observed Professor (Dr.) M.M. Goel, Chairman, Department of Economics, Kurukshetra University & Convener Intellectual cell of the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee in an International Symposium on Sustainable Future (ISSF-2010) being organized by Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research( IGIDR), Goregaon (Mumbai) on January 11. He shared Dias with eminent personalities from India and abroad most notably Professor Yoginder K. Alagh, Mr. Suresh Prabhu both former ministers of energy at the Government of India., Padam Vibhushan Dr. Man Mohan Sharma , Dr Sonia Valdivisia of UNEP, France, Dr. Martina Prox of Germany.
Sustainability of human survival will be reality with governance structure and manpower planning, said Professor Goel.
To secure sustainable future of the people in India, we need to recognize electricity as the most important infrastructural activity and calls for its sufficiency, efficiency which is possible through good governance conceptualized as SMART administration including SIMPLE, Moral, Action oriented, Responsive and Transparent at all levels of production transmission ,distribution and consumption , said Professor Goel.
Earlier Professor Dilip Nachane, Director IGIDR welcomed the guests and Professor Vinod K Sharma convener ISSF-2010 introduced the guests and proposed vote of thanks.
