Chandigarh, Jan 23, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today described the result of the by-election to Ellenabad assembly constituency as a "moral victory" of the Congress. An statement quoting the chief minister said that in the last elections to the state Assembly, the Congress candidate had lost from Ellenabad by a margin of about 16,000 votes, but now this margin had reduced to merely about 6,000. He said that in last elections, the Congress candidate had got about 48,000 votes but now the number of votes increased to about 58,000.
Congress nominee Bharat Singh Beniwal lost to Abhay Chautala, younger son of former Chief Minister and INLD chief Om Parkash Chautala by a margin of 6,227 votes.
